The project aimed to develop business models and banking projects for sustainable pasture management for Dmanisi, Gurjaani and Kazbegi municipalities.
Within the project framework, a comprehensive study was conducted to assess the pasture management systems in the target municipalities, on the basis of which three alternative pasture management models were developed for three different land tenure systems. The models are based on land degradation neutrality (LDN) approaches and provide increased grazing fertility and support farmers to develop sustainable land management practices.
To evaluate the models, a cost-benefit analysis was conducted, which provided the basis for assessing the three scenarios and analyzing the expected economic results. The project also included the creation of a bankable project that farmers will use in the fundraising process, and recommendations were provided for improving the livestock value chain.
